Welcome! SistersByChoice.com is an online service for women to meet and create platonic friendships with other women in their own community and beyond. We hope you enjoy our site and join us in celebrating women's friendships.
Two psychotherapists started and created Sisters By Choice after repeatedly hearing that women didn't know where to go to make friends. Women from all walks of life have commonly talked about the difficulty in meeting and starting new friendships, creating support systems, and finding trusted confidantes.
It is common that women, for various reasons and at different stages of their lives, find themselves without close female friends. It's just not that easy to find people whom you feel comfortable with and/or offer friendship to you. Establishing friendships takes the right mix of interest, readiness, personality, and lifestyle for a relationship to grow. You may see many women every day but don't necessarily have the motivation or courage to get to know them.
Research shows us that girlfriends bring us happiness and good health. They are a necessity that is reliable and steadfast. Having a girlfriend can mean the difference between loneliness and belonging, rejection and acceptance, despair and hope.
As you visit our site, we can only hope to send the truest intent of who we are. We are two women who believe in empowering women, helping women see life as more meaningful and fulfilling. We strive to help women overcome isolation and loneliness and become inspired to find their own power, self-love, positive thinking and meaningful supportive relationships.
